BAMUNI HILLS

Bamuni hills is a popular tourist destination located in Tezpur, Assam. The sculptural ruins at the site date back to the 9th and 10th centuries. People from across the state of Assam visit this site to marvel at the beauty of the architectural ruins. The influence of the architectural ruins has been considered mainly to resemble the Gupta style of architecture. Numerous stone carvings depicted on the walls of the Bamuni hills speak much about the glory and brilliance associated with it.

During my long stay in Tezpur, I had several visits to the Bamuni Hills. After a hectic week of assignments and class tests,often do we plan out for a trip to the nearby places. From all of the places that I visited, Bamuni Hills is one of my favorites.Being interested in temple architecture whenever I visit this place I try to examine the stone pieces lying around. Each one is of different shapes and sizes. The beautiful environment of the Bamuni Hills never fails to mesmerize me. So many memories have been attached to it.

  W hen I was a child, once in a year we had buses packed with books of all kinds-short stories, general knowledge, riddles, autobiography, and a lot more-every type of book a bookworm would dream of. There was always a constraint. Papa could somehow manage our admission fees and our traveling fare. When one bus would reach our school I would ask for money from my mother. She never said 'No' yet I dared not ask for more money. In little ways, she had inspired me into doing great things. KONARK SUN TEMPLE

"India's Best Kept Secret" Odisha is the land of fables and myths. This beautiful eastern coastal state of India has one of the oldest sun temples in India. Konark Sun Temple built in the 13th century is dedicated to Sun God Surya. The presiding deity is the Sun God Surya. The main door of the temple is closed. The place is very well maintained by the Archeological Survey of India. Considered to be UNESCO World Heritage Site this 13th-century temple is located in Konark, Odisha. The word Konark is a combination of two Sanskrit words (Kona-corner or angle) and arka (the sun).
