AGNIGARH

'Agni' meaning fire and 'Garh' meaning a fortress or wall which when combined together forms the word Agnigarh. This is a hillock located in the city of Tezpur, Assam. Mythological references refer to the fortress being built by Banasura to keep Usha in isolation. Many sculptures built in Agnigarh depicts the war between Krishna and Shiva. There are also sculptures depicting the Usha Aniruddha wedding. At the backdrop, one can have a view of the mighty Brahmaputra river considered the lifeline of Assam. The Thorn Bird Legend

Image
The thorn bird story is so inspiring. From the day thorn bird is born, it roams the world. The legend goes as such -it is all about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the time, it leaves its nest it searches for a tree and it rests not until it finds one. The bird on finding one sings among the savage branches and impales itself upon the sharpest spine. The bird dies, its heart pierced, and dying it rises above its own agony to out-carol the lark and the nightingale. The heavens listen and the world rejoices and God smiles.                                                                               For the best is only brought at the cost of great pain... Each day of our life is a struggle. When we are determined, nothing stops us from achieving what we want. In India, rain is the harbinger of great news for the farmers. It is the celebration of life, it is rejoicing with the monsoons. With the coming of rain comes the monsoon festival Teej, dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Nature wears a new look. It is celebrated in several states across India more so in the northern and the central parts. It is the celebration of the bounty of nature, the arrival of clouds and rain. Beautifully decorated swings (jhula) are seen hanging from trees decked in flowers. Elsewhere in states like Assam with the coming of monsoons, the farmers rush with their plough to the fields. Monsoons are the part and parcel of the very life of Indians more so those residing in the villages.
